Movement Modalities

Alignment Assessment

How you align and hold your body when you move is crucial for optimal performance and injury prevention. By collaborating with me, we will enhance your body awareness, identifying any potential imbalances that may arise during exercises. Together, we will focus on proper alignment, ensuring that each movement is executed with precision and control. This mindful approach will not only improve your overall strength and flexibility but also contribute to a more balanced and functional physique. Let's embark on this journey to cultivate correct movement patterns and achieve your fitness goals safely and effectively.

Energy Work

Movement isn’t solely confined to just the physical plane of existence. I offer a unique approach through energy work, commonly known as “Reiki,” to assist in moving stuck or stagnant energy from various aspects of your being—whether they be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. A gentle touch infused with sincere intentions can effectively help to release trapped energetics and promote overall well-being. For those who prefer, completely hands-off sessions are also available, allowing for a comfortable and personalized experience.

Strength Training

Gaining strength is undeniably one of the most effective and beneficial ways to help support your overall wellness and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The amount of muscle mass you have is directly correlated to your quality of life, as it plays a significant role in helping your body continue to perform day to day functions well as you age. When you successfully accomplish your fitness goals in the gym, it radiates out into various aspects of your life, establishing a profound sense of confidence and trust in your body, and ultimately, in yourself. This journey not only enhances physical strength but also fosters a more positive mindset.

Mobility

You are meant to move through your daily life with ease, grace, and vitality. Incorporating simple and highly functional mobility exercises into your routine can significantly increase your freedom of movement while enhancing the fluidity within your joints. By dedicating just a few moments each day to these practices, you can experience a remarkable improvement in your overall physical well-being and comfort.

Yoga & Breath work

The 8 limbs of yoga offer a comprehensive framework that transcends the physical aspects of the practice, inviting deeper exploration of the self. Rooted in ancient philosophy, these limbs guide practitioners towards a more holistic understanding of wellness and personal growth.

By exploring and practicing the these limbs, individuals can experience a profound transformation, balancing their physical and mental states. Proper alignment during asana practice facilitates not just physical benefits such as increased strength and flexibility but also allows for a deeper connection to one's inner self. Breathing techniques further enhance this journey, enabling a release of tension and an awakening of latent potential, leading to a healthier, more harmonious life.

Handstands

Handstands are a unique practice unlike anything else in the world of fitness and movement. They represent one of the most technical skills one can learn and master within the body, often requiring extensive effort and rigorous training to achieve success with seemingly modest rewards. This challenging endeavor is not just about physical strength; it is also an artful and beautiful practice that helps in cultivating your own mental clarity while building trust and confidence in your body to accomplish difficult tasks. I truly believe that going upside down can be incredibly beneficial for one’s mental health, serving not just as a physical exercise but also as a form of meditation that quiets the mind and fosters inner peace.

Pole Dance

Pole dancing is truly an incredible way to learn fluidity and to embrace the full embodiment of your inner dancer. Over the past decade, pole dancing has been growing more and more mainstream, becoming recognized as an empowering form of expression. It can be a wonderfully enjoyable way to move your body while also stepping into your sensuality and confidence. I had no formal dancing background at all when I made the decision to start dancing, and the great news is that you don’t need to either! So, why not tap into your fierce power and learn the art of pole dancing from a retired stripper who can guide you on this exciting journey?

Twerk

Learning to move your hips through the dynamic art of twerking is not only fun and empowering but also serves as a means to help release stored trauma! While twerking has certainly grown in popularity in recent years, it actually dates back many centuries to various tribes that performed twerking as part of sacred rituals and for the purpose of pleasure, celebration, and honoring life. Embrace the opportunity to learn how to jiggle and sway what society has told you to keep so rigid and still. Let your body express itself freely and joyfully!

About Me

My passion for movement ignited at an early age. Childhood experiences in gymnastics and figure skating kept me active until four transformative years of field hockey in high school, culminating in a significant injury—breaking my kneecap during my junior year. Ironically, this setback deepened my connection to movement; it fueled a determination to reclaim strength through rigorous physical therapy, and I embraced the gym as a newfound sanctuary.

In college, I faced the reality of the “Freshman 15,” grappling with the consequences of a lifestyle defined by heavy partying. The turning point came when I grew weary of my choices—constant drinking and unhealthy eating patterns left me feeling depleted and often caught in a binge cycle. The reboot started with invigorating runs and bodyweight workouts at home, leading me to a gym where I discovered the empowering world of weightlifting.

My journey into fitness as a career began at 9 Rounds, where I started as a cardio kickboxing instructor. After enduring inadequate training for a bodybuilding competition under a locally respected coach—one who left me undernourished—I realized, "I can elevate this and genuinely support others on their journeys!" Since 2012, movement has been the cornerstone of my career, traversing large corporate gyms like Gold's Gym and Powerhouse, boutique studios, and a spectrum of unique environments in multiple states, then growing an online presence.

I take immense pride in my clients and feel honored to contribute to their journeys towards inner strength. I have triumphed over three eating disorders: anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating (with ongoing work in some areas). My experiences have endowed me with a profound understanding of the struggles surrounding food. Through the process of learning to love my body and embracing the movement it fulfills, I have gained the strength to better guide others on their nutritional paths.

Why do you call yourself a Movement Facilitator and not a trainer or a coach?

A facilitator “is a person or thing that makes an action or process easy or easier”. I feel that this is a more aligned and accurate description of what I can offer, enhancing one’s journey of incorporating various ways to move their body to uplift their daily and future life.
